Tuesday, May 19th is a primary election. As MoreThanTheCurve put it bluntly, there isn't much to vote for, with most key races uncontested at the top of the ballot. Well, yes, that is how primaries often go in odd years. The interesting wrinkle is local.
The proposed data center at the former Conshohocken site continues to hang over Plymouth Township. A zoning hearing has not been scheduled yet (likely sometime in June), and the township's Environmental Advisory Board has been told it will have no official role in that hearing. Meanwhile, the same developer behind the Plymouth pitch has been lobbying the Shapiro administration for state legislation that would strip the right to appeal data center projects. Read those two facts back to back and the local stakes get a lot sharper.
If you want to weigh in, the township-level races and committee seats on Tuesday's ballot are where you actually have leverage. Polls and your assigned location are listed in the Plymouth-Whitemarsh voter guide, and MoreThanTheCurve also noted that only one of the four candidates running to represent Whitemarsh in Harrisburg responded to their submitted questions. Take that for what it's worth.
