Home rule charter lands on the Conshohocken ballot

·

A home rule charter is on the ballot in Conshohocken, with the Nov. 3 general election coming up. MoreThanTheCurve has published an opinion piece on what it calls almost everything you need to know about the charter. It labels the piece opinion because the outlet offers opinions on the issue, so read it with that in mind, which I guess is good advice for anything about a ballot question. Official Pennsylvania resources let you find your polling place and check your registration.

Flocco's on Fayette Street turns 100 on Sunday

·

Flocco's Shoes, Clothes & Formalwear has called Fayette Street in Conshohocken home for 100 years, and it celebrates on Sunday, October 25th. That is a long time for one shop to keep a street's feet happy. MoreThanTheCurve has the announcement, and MONTCO.Today ran a look at how the family shop helped shape the borough over those 100 years.

SEPTA tools hiccup and a weekend rail swap

·

SEPTA's real-time tracking tools are temporarily down while the agency installs a PHP security update, according to 6abc. Officials say real-time bus and Metro information is still available through Google Maps and the Transit App. Separately, the Borough of Conshohocken says buses will replace trains on the Norristown Line between Conshohocken Station and Elm Street Station on October 24 and 25, because of PECO wire repair work. The same swap returns November 7 and 8, so build in extra time.

Pennsylvania schools set a bell-to-bell phone ban for 2027-28

·

Pennsylvania schools will enact a bell-to-bell cellphone ban in the 2027-28 school year, 6abc reports. Chris Lilienthal of the Pennsylvania State Education Association said the legislation could help teachers keep students engaged in the classroom. That gives families roughly a year to rehearse the conversation, and kids a year of phones at lunch. Now my biases are obvious.
