Data center application withdrawn in Upper Merion while West Conshohocken proposal waits

·

A developer has withdrawn applications for a cluster of data centers in Upper Merion, according to 6abc. Opponents of AI data center development in Montgomery County are calling it a major victory.

Closer to the borough line, Innovation 411 Fee Owner, LLC has submitted a conditional use application for a data center with West Conshohocken, per MoreThanTheCurve, which names developer Brian O'Neill as the one seeking approval. That one is still pending.

Flocco's turns 100 on Fayette Street

·

Flocco's Shoes, Clothes and Formalwear has called Fayette Street in Conshohocken home for 100 years. The shop will celebrate its centennial on Sunday, October 25.

A century in one spot is a long time for any retailer, and a very long time for a business that sells shoes and formalwear to a town that has changed this much. Our source did not list the celebration details beyond the date, so check MoreThanTheCurve for more.

Safety

Police watch school bus routes Wednesday

·

The Conshohocken Police Department will conduct Operation Safe Stop on Wednesday, October 21, to promote school bus safety. In plain terms, when the red lights flash, you stop. Officers will be watching, so plan your morning accordingly.

Separately, Plymouth Township has announced Urban Search and Rescue training in neighborhoods around Colwell Lane and Colwell Park in Conshohocken. Patch reports crews will train on responding to a large scale weather event. Check the township for timing.

Skill game ban hits the Conshohocken VFW

·

Pennsylvania's ban on skill games is now in effect, and the Conshohocken VFW is feeling it. In June, the state Supreme Court ruled that skill game machines are slot machines, and therefore illegal outside licensed casinos and truck stops.

State officials warned businesses in recent weeks to remove the machines by October. 6abc reports the local VFW stands to lose thousands of dollars as a result.
