Lead Story

New pharma headquarters opens in West Conshohocken

·

A major biopharmaceutical company has opened its expanded headquarters on Conshohocken State Road in West Conshohocken, bringing about 300 employees to the site, according to Patch. The company is Madrigal Pharmaceuticals, which Patch describes as a multi-billion-dollar enterprise.

Patch says the pharmaceutical industry keeps spreading its footprint across Montgomery County. For a town that already knows its way around an office park, that is one more reason the morning commute stays interesting, I guess.

New Conshohocken swim school takes kids from 4 months to 12 years

·

A new swim school has opened in Conshohocken, and its lessons start early. Aqua Tots teaches children from 4 months old to 12 years old, according to MONTCO.Today.

That is a wide age range, and any parent who has tried to coax a toddler into a bath knows a pool is a bigger ask. Families curious about schedules and pricing should check with the school directly, since the details are not in what we have in hand.

Pennsylvania signs bell-to-bell school phone ban into law

·

Governor Josh Shapiro signed a bell-to-bell ban on cellphones in Pennsylvania's schools earlier this week, according to MoreThanTheCurve. The Senate approved Senate Bill 1014 by a vote of 47 to 3.

Bell-to-bell means the whole school day, not just class time. The summary we have does not say when it takes effect, so watch your district for the details. Parents of teenagers, you may now begin negotiating at the dinner table. My biases are obvious.

Local News

Conshohocken leaf collection starts Wednesday

·

The Borough of Conshohocken Public Services department will begin leaf collection on Wednesday, November 4. The borough asks residents to rake leaves and move them to the curb for pickup.

MoreThanTheCurve has posted details on leaf collection for Conshohocken, West Conshohocken, Plymouth, and Whitemarsh, since each municipality runs its own program. Check your own town's schedule before you rake, because a pile at the wrong curb on the wrong day is just a very tidy hazard.
