Conshohocken Gets Six New Public EV Charging Ports

·

PennDOT announced on October 27th a $37 million investment to build more publicly accessible electric vehicle chargers in Montgomery and other counties. Conshohocken is getting six new public charging ports at the Blue Water Tower on Washington Street, backed by more than $100,000 in PennDOT NEVI funding. The same program is also backing fast chargers in Plymouth Meeting. I guess the water tower is about to get a second job. MoreThanTheCurve has the details.

Conshohocken Voters Will Weigh a Home Rule Question on November 3

·

Conshy residents will vote in the November 3 general election on exploring a potential home rule charter, according to Patch. Note the verb. The question is about exploring a charter, which is a long way from adopting one, so don't expect the borough rulebook to change overnight. Well, yes, I am the kind of person who reads the ballot wording twice. Patch has an explainer worth a look before you head to the polls.

Pennsylvania Bans Cellphones in Schools Bell to Bell

·

Governor Josh Shapiro has signed a bell-to-bell ban on cellphones in Pennsylvania's schools. The Senate approved Senate Bill 1014 by a vote of 47-3, which is about as lopsided as Harrisburg gets. For families, that means the phone question at the dinner table may soon have an official answer. Now my biases are obvious, but I suspect a few students are already drafting their appeals. Read the MoreThanTheCurve report.

Leaf Collection Starts Wednesday in Conshohocken

·

The Borough of Conshohocken Public Services will begin leaf collection on Wednesday, November 4. The borough asks residents to rake their leaves and move them to the curb for collection. West Conshohocken, Plymouth and Whitemarsh also run leaf collection this season, each with its own details. If your yard looks like a leaf factory, you have a few days to get ahead of it. MoreThanTheCurve lists the schedules.

A Family Shoe Shop Marks 100 Years on Fayette Street

·

Floccos, a family shoe shop on Fayette Street, has been part of Conshohocken for 100 years, according to MONTCO.Today. The outlet traces how the shop helped shape the borough over that century. That is a lot of Conshy feet, and a lot of kids who were measured for school shoes at the same counter their parents once stood at. The full story is on MONTCO.Today.
