At its July 15th meeting, Conshohocken borough council agreed to seek party status in the zoning hearing for a proposed data center at 900 Conshohocken Road, which technically sits in Plymouth Township but is close enough that borough residents will feel every hum, every truck route, and every kilowatt of whatever gets built. Party status matters because it gives the borough standing to ask questions, cross-examine, and actually shape the record instead of watching from the cheap seats.
The Plymouth Township zoning hearing was originally slated for July 28th and has now been continued to August 6th, per an announcement from the township on July 14th. Meanwhile, up the road in Whitemarsh, the planning commission spent its own July 15th meeting reviewing draft language for data center regulations, apparently deciding it would rather write the rules than inherit them. Two neighboring municipalities, two very different postures, one very big building type headed toward all of us.
