Council Meets Wednesday and an Insurance Brokerage Picks Conshy for Its New East Region

· · 2 min read

Let's start with the civic homework. The Borough of Conshohocken says Borough Council will hold its regularly scheduled public meeting on Wednesday, October 7, at 7 p.m. The borough's notice says the purpose of the meeting is for Council to... and then the snippet we have simply stops. I guess that is the municipal version of a cliffhanger. We can tell you the when. For the what, you will want to check the full agenda on the borough site before you clear your evening.

Why bother with a Wednesday night meeting? Because this is where the stuff that touches your family actually gets decided, like road work, parks, and trash pickup. Nobody throws a parade for a consent agenda, but nobody enjoys a surprise either.

Meanwhile, some business news with a Conshy address. Patch's morning newsletter reports that Marsh has named Andrew Neary CEO of its newly combined East region, and he will be based right here in Conshohocken. The role oversees client service, sales, and operations from Maine through Pennsylvania. That is a lot of map to run from a borough most people drive through on the way to somewhere else. Now my biases are obvious, but I enjoy being the somewhere else.

One more item to watch. MONTCO.Today has a story headlined that Alliance HP has put its historic Spring Mill campus up for sale in Conshohocken. We only have the headline in front of us, so we are not going to guess at price, buyers, or plans. We will pass along more when there is something real to pass along.

Brian Pieri Wins Conshy's Best Cheerleader and Gets a Radio Interview Out of It

·

Every town needs someone who talks it up without being asked, and Conshohocken voters have now made it official. Restaurateur Brian Pieri was named Conshy's Best Cheerleader in the 2026 edition of Best of Conshy.

The title came with a bonus. Kathy Romano, who came in second in the voting, interviewed Pieri on B101. Think about that setup for a second. The runner-up got to sit across the microphone from the winner. I guess that is either graciousness or the most polite form of scouting report. Well, yes, I am rooting for graciousness.

The full write-up, including a link to all the winners, is over at MoreThanTheCurve. We will leave the restaurant details to them, since our material does not spell them out.

The point for families is simple. A borough this size runs on people who show up, say nice things about it, and tip well. Cheerleading is underrated civic infrastructure.

Two Zoos, One Saturday, and a Lot of Pumpkins

·

Here is the family planning problem for October 10. Two zoos near us are both throwing a Boo at the Zoo on the same day. Pick wisely, or pick one and bribe the kids with the other next year.

The Philadelphia Zoo, at 3400 W. Girard Ave., runs Boo at the Zoo on Saturday, October 10, Sunday, October 11, and a Monday bonus day on October 12 for Indigenous Peoples' Day, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kids can trick-or-treat past the animal exhibits, watch animals eat pumpkins, and take in fall views from the Pherris Wheel. It is included with regular Zoo admission or membership. That wheel pun was not ours, and I am a little jealous.

Closer to home, Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown has a full Saturday on October 10. Boo at the Zoo runs from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and transforms the zoo for a kooky, spooky Halloween celebration. Harvest Fest runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with carnival games, carousel rides, and live music. There is also a Fire Smart safety event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a World Migratory Bird Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. That is four events at one zoo. Somebody there clearly does not believe in a quiet Saturday.

My honest take is that the Philadelphia Zoo gives you three days of flexibility, which matters if your household has a nap schedule that outranks the Borough Council. Check each zoo's site for admission details before you load the car.

That is a lot of businesses spread across a lot of towns. The material we have does not list the rest of them, so we cannot tell you whether any are in Conshohocken. We would rather say that than guess. If you want the full list, the original report is the place to start.
