Royal Farms sets a Conshy opening date, and yes, the chicken is coming

Mark the calendar. The Maryland-based convenience store and gas station chain Royal Farms has announced June 29th as the opening day for its Conshohocken location, the one a lot of you have been watching get built and asking about for months.

For families, the practical takeaway is a new gas option and a quick stop for the famous fried chicken. For the curious, there's also a special soft opening event with tickets, per the announcement covered by MoreThanTheCurve. Full details and ticket info are at the MoreThanTheCurve writeup.

The bigger picture, if you want one, is that Conshohocken keeps adding new commercial tenants at a pace that would have seemed implausible ten years ago. Whether that's good news or just news depends on which corner of Fayette you live closest to.

A song called Conshy Girls now exists, and we have feelings

A band named Lackey released a track titled Conshy Girls, and it surfaced this week courtesy of the YouTube algorithm doing what it does. MoreThanTheCurve flagged it as a potential song of the summer candidate, and honestly, who are we to argue with a hyperlocal anthem.

We won't pretend to be music critics here. The relevant fact is that someone wrote a song about this town, named it after this town, and put it on the internet for the rest of us to find. That is, by any reasonable measure, a community spotlight moment.

You can read MoreThanTheCurve's take and follow through to the track here. Whether it ends up blasting from car windows on Fayette Street by August is up to the rest of us.

Montgomery County puts the old quarry land on Conshohocken Road up for sale

If you've driven past the former quarry property along Conshohocken Road recently and noticed a for-sale sign, it is not a mirage. Montgomery County is selling the 42-acre site, as MoreThanTheCurve reported earlier this week.

Forty-two acres is a lot of land in this part of the county. Whatever the eventual buyer does with it will affect traffic, schools, taxes, and the view from a lot of windows. Worth keeping an eye on, especially with the ongoing fight over the proposed Plymouth Township data center already raising questions about what kinds of large parcels get repurposed and how.

Your weekend in Conshy is doing the most

Saturday is going to be busy. The Conshohocken Arts Festival and Car Show takes over Fayette Street from 11 AM to 5 PM, in its ninth year as a free community charity event. Same day, the Firstrust Conshy Classic Bike Race rolls through downtown, so plan your parking accordingly and maybe just walk if you can.

The Conshohocken Farmers' Market is also on for Saturday, June 6th, per the market's regular schedule. If you want a slower morning, that's your move. MoreThanTheCurve has a quick rundown here.

One scheduling note worth mentioning. The AccuWeather forecast from 6abc is calling for temperatures into the mid 90s with humidity climbing across the region. Sunscreen, water bottles, and a hat are not optional for a long day on Fayette Street.
