Friday, July 3rd is fireworks night in the borough. The annual display goes up around dusk, roughly 9:15 p.m., launched from Sutcliffe Park at 800 Colwell Lane. The borough is promising a bigger show this year so it can be seen from more vantage points around town, which is a polite way of saying: do not try to park near the park. Sutcliffe and the surrounding streets will be closed for the event. Details are at the borough's fireworks page.

Then comes Saturday morning and the AMBUCS Soap Box Derby comes barreling down Fayette Street, gravity doing the heavy lifting and small humans doing the steering. Pack water. Pack more water. The forecast will not be subtle.
