At the August 5th borough council meeting, Conshohocken officials heard a presentation about buying a property along Colwell Lane to consolidate the public works department, which is currently spread across multiple locations. The pitch is straightforward. Get everything under one roof and stop the shuffle.
Now here is where it gets interesting for families. The same conversation opened the door to something residents have been asking about for years. A dog park. If consolidation frees up space at the existing public works sites, one of those parcels could potentially become dedicated green space for four-legged neighbors. I say potentially because nothing is decided, no site is chosen, and municipal budgeting math does not tend to move at a golden retriever's pace.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, the proposed data center saga continues. Developer Brian O'Neill released an economic impact study on August 4th claiming the project would generate $424 million in new local tax revenue over 20 years. Plymouth Township council, which has been considerably less enthused, publicly accused the developer of "demanding approval by tantrum" and issued a 43-point list of conditions.
