Fun Fest Draws a Crowd, and a Candidate for Governor

Saturday's Fun Fest packed the streets, and among the sea of strollers and funnel cake dust was Stacy Garrity, the Republican candidate for Pennsylvania governor. She used the stop to talk about data centers, which is not exactly the topic you expect to bump into between the bounce house and the beer tent, but here we are. The gubernatorial race has officially found Fayette Street.

Data centers, incidentally, are having a moment locally. Just a few days earlier, neighboring Plymouth Township had to cancel a zoning hearing tied to a data center proposal after the township failed to post the meeting agenda to its website 24 hours in advance, as the Sunshine Act requires. MoreThanTheCurve reported the missing agenda, and the township pulled the plug on the hearing rather than push forward and invite a legal headache.

Nice thing to wake up to on a Monday. Conshohocken-based band Mid Sentence took the top spot in Local Noise Philadelphia, the battle of the bands featured by 6ABC Action News over the weekend. The prize is not just bragging rights around town, but an opening slot at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion, which is a legitimate step up from playing to your friends and one bemused bartender.
