If your Saturday plans involve riding the rails out of Conshohocken Station toward Norristown, you will want to read this before you leave the house. The Borough of Conshohocken is flagging a SEPTA weekend bus substitution on the Norristown Regional Rail line, and it starts today.

Here is the official language, pulled from the borough's news page: "Due to PECO wire repair work, bus service will replace train service on the Norristown Line between Conshohocken Station and Norristown-Elm Street Station for the entire service day." The dates listed are Oct. 3 and 4, then Oct. 10 and 11.
Let me rephrase that for the people at the back. The wires need fixing, the trains are sitting this one out, and a bus is going to do the job of a train for two weekends in a row. That is four days total, which is long enough that you can't just shrug and hope for the best.
The notice we have is a short blurb, and we only have part of it. We can't tell you bus pickup spots, frequency, or how much extra travel time to pad in. SEPTA is the place to confirm those before you head out. My advice, for what a columnist's advice is worth, is to leave earlier than you think you need to. Buses and tight Saturday schedules have a long and storied history of not getting along.
The other thing worth noting is that the station-to-station swap only covers the stretch between Conshohocken and Norristown-Elm Street, per the borough's notice. Check your actual trip against that stretch rather than assuming the whole line is affected.
